On-line database presenting information on the history and repertoire of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra
During the past few year the repertoire of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra has been enriched with performances. For the first time in Bulgaria, of masterpieces of the world music treasury, in partnership with the “Svetoslav Obretenov” Bulgarian Cappella Choir: cantatas and oratories by Bach, Handle, Orf, Brahms, Schubert, Berlioz, Skryabin etc. The history of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra must be preserved for the future generations by means of securing independent, integrated information space hosting the completed data – past, present and future – in order to provide a user-friendly web base as the fastest communication tool for the classical music lovers.The long history of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra should be preserved for the future generations through the creation of a unified independent information space, which to provide both the complete information - past, present, and future, and an opportunity for using Internet, the latter being the fastest means of communication with the admirers of the classical music.
The main task of the project was to create rich database of its long years’ repertoire, containing pieces from the entire world music literature, starting with the classics and proceeding to the contemporary opuses, including first-time performances of numerous Bulgarian works and storing the 70-year artistic history of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra – a long and dynamic road of creative growth, incorporating the names of many outstanding figures from the music area.
The website is flexible multimedia information system for dissemination of public information and includes an electronic library, utilising modern technological means for easy maintenance.
